6-29-21 THOUGHTS

Some of our songs are essentially scripture.  We sang THE VOICE OF THE LORD Sunday. The words of that song come from the 29th Psalm.  The words of the song have been wandering through my mind since Sunday.  The “Voice of the Lord” speaks to the power and control of our awesome God.  The psalmist uses figurative poetic language.  That’s surely appropriate, for you and I cannot understand fully what is spoken of.  I often pray that I can lift God up to the highest place.  Then I was thinking the other night, where is the highest place?  If there is such a place, could I put the omnipresent God in one place?  He’s everywhere.  My thinking capacity begins to fall short here loved ones.  Take in the second part of verse 9
“AND IN HIS TEMPLE,  EVERYTHING SAYS ‘GLORY’!
Read the following when you are not in a hurry.  Soak it up like a sponge soaks up water.  Let you mind go where it will.  Stretch your thinking to try to see THE GLORY OF OUR AWESOME GOD!
Gen 1:1-3a     In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2  The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.           3
THEN GOD SAID...

Ps 29:1-11   Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.  2  Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array. 3  The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The LORD is over many waters. 4  The voice of the LORD is powerful, The voice of the LORD is majestic. 5  The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. 6  He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, And Sirion like a young wild ox. 7  The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire. 8  The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9  The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, "Glory!" 10  The LORD sat as King at the flood; Yes, the LORD sits as King forever. 11  The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.
Gen 18:27      And Abraham replied, "Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord, although I am [but] dust and ashes.
John 17:24    "Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
I think Jesus is saying that we really cannot truly fathom His Glory,  and the Glory of God while we are yet earth bound!   I find great joy in trying my hardest TO GET IT!

My Prayer:
O Lord, help us in our weakness to see your greatness, and might and power.  Make your glory shine upon us.  When the ugly of this world overshadows us, may we turn to you and see enough of you to flood our souls.  Help us to rejoice because we belong to you.  May we be awed that you chose to adopt us in Christ Jesus.  May your good pleasure and loving kindness bless us forever. You have promised, and that is enough.   In Jesus precious name     Amen
